About

I am a British trained fully accredited Consultant Plastic Surgeon and a full member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). In the NHS I work at the Wythenshawe site of Manchester Foundation Trust in both the Plastic Surgery department and the Breast Unit. I am on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.

Dr Rachel Holt

My practice is centred on providing well-informed, patient-driven and personalised care for my patients. I specialise in breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery for women and focus on providing attractive, natural and long-lasting results. I offer women a full range of options for breast reconstruction using the latest techniques including microsurgical procedures to reconstruct the breast using the body’s own tissue. I also specialise in rejuvenation of the breasts and body for women. Throughout my career I have trained with some of the most renowned breast aesthetic surgeons across the globe from London and Manchester to the Gold Coast, Australia.

I completed my primary degree (MB, ChB) and initial medical training in Manchester. Having progressed rapidly to registrar level in plastic surgery, I went on to complete a research doctorate (M.D.) at the University of Manchester prior to embarking on higher surgical training in Plastic Surgery.

I trained in London working for and learning from some of the UK’s leaders in the field of breast aesthetics and breast reconstruction. I subsequently moved to Manchester to complete the last years of my training programme in Plastic Surgery, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS(Plast)).

My training was further enhanced with a year-long oncoplastic breast fellowship in the prestigious Nightingale Centre in Manchester. This gave me training in breast oncology and equipped me with the skills to perform cancer resection in addition to reconstructive surgery. Alongside my fellowship I am one of only a handful of plastic surgeons in the country to have studied a masters programme in oncoplastic breast surgery and I was recently awarded a Diploma in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.

I subsequently spent an additional year post-qualification undertaking a fellowship in Microsurgery in Perth, Australia. I was asked to stay on in Australia as a consultant specialising in breast reconstruction and worked there until joining Leeds in February 2018. I was a consultant in Leeds for nearly a year prior to being sought by Manchester to join the team to deliver an expanding breast reconstruction service.

I provide a thorough pre-operative assessment to ensure that my patients are given the best possible advice. I strive to ensure that patients are fully aware of the implications, benefits and potential complications of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. I am committed to delivering high quality, well-informed care in an environment that empowers patients to make decisions about the options available. I use the latest evidence-based peri-operative care protocols and surgical techniques to achieve the desired result.

I have been involved in the evolution of a number of innovative techniques during my career and have presented my work both nationally and internationally.

Outside of surgery I am a keen runner and participate in a number of sports including tennis, cycling and kite-surfing. I encourage all my patients to become physically active before surgery, and to work toward their fitness goals prior to undergoing major surgery.

"Your professionalism and beautiful caring nature has helped in me feeling better than I have in years."
