Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is in integral part of most womens’ breast cancer journey. There are many different options depending on your unique anatomy, lifestyle and aspirations. Reconstruction can help to restore a woman’s sense of body image after facing breast cancer treatment.

DIEP Reconstruction

DIEP reconstruction is the “Gold Standard” breast reconstruction. It replaces breast tissue with skin and fat from the abdomen and is as close to “like for like” as you can get.

TUG Reconstruction

The TUG gives a permanent, warm, soft and shapely breast reconstruction with a good cosmetic result however the volume is limited and you may require additional procedures to achieve a desired volume.

Latissimus Dorsi Reconstruction

LD reconstruction may be autologous (entirely your own tissue) or combined with an implant. This reconstruction uses skin / fat and muscle from your back to replace breast tissue.

Implant Based Reconstruction

Reconstruction is usually done at the time of the mastectomy (immediate) but can also be done in a delayed fashion (months to years after the cancer surgery).

Nipple Reconstruction

Nipple and Areola Complex (NAC) reconstruction is often the final stage of breast reconstruction.
